Hi there! In recent years, news and discoveries about climate change have done nothing but increase. This is a serious problem that has many varied and diverse effects on the world we live in. Everything, from the crops we need to survive on to every single animal that populates this earth is affected by this issue. This blog will aim to educate and spread awareness on the subject of climate change, especially in context of the snowy owl.

The snowy owl is an important focus for this subject as it is a species which is very dependent on a delicate habitat. Having undergone thousands of years of evolutionary selection to be able to survive the arctic habitat in which it lives, it is not very well adjusted to other climates. As temperatures change, so does the range in which this species can successfully predate and nest; and this isn't for the better. Along with this change in temperature directly affecting the areas in which the snowy owl can populate, there is also a bottom-up effect taking place as the natural habitats of the snowy owl's main prey, the lemming, is becoming compromised.
